Paula Tomás Marques (ella/elle) es una cineasta y docente portuguesa que vive entre Oporto y Lisboa. Tras completar un posgrado en Realización Cinematográfica en la Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (San Sebastián), obtuvo previamente un posgrado en Sociología en ISCTE (Lisboa) y se formó originalmente en Dirección y Cinematografía en la Escuela Superior de Teatro y Cine de Lisboa.

Paula Marques dirigió las películas In Case of Fire (2019), Blindman's Bluff (2021) y Dildotectonics (2023), explorando temas relacionados con el género, la sexualidad y la historiografía. Estos temas están informados tanto por su experiencia vital como por la investigación histórica y sociológica, que constituye una parte fundamental de su práctica artística.

Su obra se ha exhibido en numerosos festivales y muestras, entre ellos Ann Arbor, Anthology Film Archives y el Festival de Cine de Nueva York (Estados Unidos), BFI Flare (Reino Unido), Curtas Vila do Conde e IndieLisboa (Portugal), Go Short (Países Bajos), Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg (Alemania), Curta Cinema y Olhar de Cinema (Brasil), el Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián (España), Viennale (Austria) y Visions du Réel (Suiza), entre muchos otros, obteniendo diversos reconocimientos y premios.

Paula Marques también ha trabajado como directora de fotografía, editora y supervisora de guion.

Paula Tomás Marques (she/they) is a Portuguese filmmaker and teacher living between Porto and Lisbon. Having completed a postgraduate degree in Filmmaking at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (San Sebastián), she previously earned a postgraduate degree in Sociology at ISCTE (Lisbon) and was originally trained in Directing and Cinematography at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School.

Paula Marques directed the films In Case of Fire (2019), Blindman's Bluff (2021) and Dildotectonics (2023), exploring themes of gender, sexuality and historiography. These themes are informed by her lived experience and by historical and sociological research, which forms an integral part of her practice.

Her work has been shown at numerous festivals and screenings, including Ann Arbor, Anthology Film Archives and the New York Film Festival (USA), BFI Flare (UK), Curtas Vila do Conde and IndieLisboa (Portugal), Go Short (Netherlands), Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg (Germany), Curta Cinema and Olhar de Cinema (Brazil), the San Sebastián International Film Festival (Spain), Viennale (Austria), and Visions du Réel (Switzerland), among many others, earning several awards.

Paula Marques has also worked as a cinematographer, editor and script supervisor.
