Festival MIX Mexico– Cinema, Sexual and Gender Diversity (MIX México) will take place from June 18 to 28, 2026, in Mexico City (main venue) and may include special screenings in other states of the country. The Festival's call for entries is open to national and international feature films and short films, including fiction, documentaries, animation, and experimental works.

All productions must be completed before April 10, 2026.

MIX México will prioritize world and national premieres of feature films and short films. Exceptions to this rule are subject to the discretion of the MIX México Programming Committee.

The MIX México program will include competitive and non-competitive sections. Selected films will be included in the section that the selection committee deems appropriate according to the parameters outlined below.

MIX COMPETITION Section

Seven to ten feature films and seven to ten short films, both national and international, will be selected for this section. Only films produced in 2025 and 2026 that have not been programmed by any other festival or showcase in Mexico City, have not been previously released in Mexico, are not for personal sale, and are not part of the catalog of any streaming platform are eligible for the MIX Competition Section.

The films participating in this section, compete for:

• Butterfly Award for Best Feature Film
• Butterfly Award for Best Director of a Feature Film
• Butterfly Award for Best Screenplay of a Feature Film
• Butterfly Award for Best Lead Performance in a Feature Film
• Butterfly Award for Best Short Film
• Pink Butterfly Award for Best Mexican Work (Feature Film or Short Film)
• Special MIX Jury Prize (Feature Film and Short Film)
• Great MIX Audience Award for Best Feature Film

PANORAMA MIX Section

There is no minimum or maximum number of feature films and short films that will be selected for this section. Only feature films and short films produced in 2024, 2025, and 2026 that have not been screened in Mexico City, have not premiered in Mexico, and are not part of the catalog of any streaming platform are eligible for this section.

Films participating in this section (feature films only) compete for:

• Great MIX Audience Award for Best Feature Film

ROSA MIX Section

There is no minimum or maximum number of feature films and short films that will be selected for this section. Only Mexican-produced feature films and short films produced in 2025 and 2026 that have not been screened in Mexico City, have not premiered in Mexico, and are not part of the catalog of any streaming platform are eligible for this section.

The films participating in this section, both feature films and short films, compete for:

• Pink Butterfly Award for Best Mexican Work

The feature films and short films selected for Rosa MIX will also be part of the Rosa Mexicano – National Film Showcase of Festival MIX Mexico Festival* program.

The awards will be given by an international jury, composed of between 3 and 5 industry professionals. Only the Great MIX Audience Award will be given by direct vote of the audience attending the Festival screenings.

By submitting a film to the MIX Mexico Call for Entries, the producer and/or distributor who owns the film's rights agrees to participate in the Festival according to its rules. Participation in FESTIVAL MIX Mexico implies acceptance of the following rules:

• Films submitted to the MIX Mexico Call for Entries will not receive financial compensation.
• Once registered and selected, a film cannot be withdrawn from the MIX México program, nor can it be publicly exhibited in Mexico City before its official presentation at the festival and until July 2026. Exceptions to this rule will be discussed with the film's rights holder and will be subject to the discretion of the programming department.
• Individuals who have worked on the selected films agree not to publicize their participation until the MIX México program is announced by the organizers. Failure to comply with this last point may result in the organizers considering withdrawing the film from the Festival.
• Producers and distributors of films that are part of the MIX Competition, Panorama MIX, and Rosa MIX sections agree to include the phrase “MIX México – Official Competition Selection,” “MIX México – Official Panorama Selection,” and “MIX México – Official Rosa Mexicano Selection,” respectively, in all their advertising and press materials, using the corresponding material that will be sent to you via email upon notification of your selection. This commitment applies to both commercial film releases and commercial releases on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD.
• The rights holder must send the following information to MIX México by mail or digitally:

• Completed and signed registration form
• Original film title
• Language
• Mandatory Spanish subtitles, even for films spoken in Spanish
• Country of origin
• Production completion date
• Running time
• Exhibition format
• Aspect ratio
• Color and/or Black and white
• Date and location of the world premiere, as well as the festivals where it has been previously screened
• Awards won, and which ones
• Short synopsis (maximum two lines)
• Director's biography
• Contact information for the producer or responsible person submitting the film: name, address, phone number, email address, and signature.
• Link to the trailer, either spoken or subtitled in English or Spanish, for online viewing.

• If submitting a downloadable link, it must not have an expiration date. Avoid sending
• WeTransfer links or similar services, which are only valid for a limited number of days.
• To participate, films must be registered and submitted online no later than April 10, 2026, without exception.
• Works in progress are not eligible.
• MIX México may use excerpts from national and international films and/or trailers (maximum 3 minutes in length) for promotional purposes.
• To promote the program and each of the selected films, MIX México may use photographs, posters, and trailers (less than 3 minutes in length) of the films.
  Decisions regarding the editorial content of our catalog are the sole responsibility of the MIX México Festival.
• The program, dates, and screening times for each film are determined by the MIX México Organization.
• Selected Spanish-language films must be presented with both Spanish and English subtitles. This is an official requirement; otherwise, the relevant authorities will not permit the film's screening.
• For foreign films in languages ​​other than Spanish, an English dialogue list (with timecodes) will be required for subtitling.
• If accepted into MIX Mexico, you must confirm that a complete copy of the film is not available online or via VOD in Mexico prior to the screening.
• Participation in MIX Mexico implies acceptance of these regulations. Any conflicts (organizational or operational) not covered by these regulations will be resolved electronically.

La edición 30 del FESTIVAL MIX MÉXICO – CINE, DIVERSIDAD SEXUAL Y DE GÉNERO (MIX México) se llevará a cabo del 18 al 28 de junio de 2026 en la Ciudad de México (sede principal) y podría tener proyecciones especiales en otros estados del país. La convocatoria del Festival está abierta para largometrajes y cortometrajes nacionales e internacionales, pueden ser de ficción, documentales, animación o experimentales.

Todas las producciones deberán haber sido completadas antes del 10 de abril de 2026.

MIX México priorizará estrenos mundiales y nacionales de películas, largometrajes y cortometrajes. Las excepciones a esta regla quedan sujetas a la discreción del Comité  de Programación de MIX México.

La programación de MIX México incluirá secciones competitivas y no competitivas. Las películas seleccionadas se incluirán en la sección que el Comité de Programación considere pertinente de acuerdo a los parámetros que se señalan a continuación.

Sección COMPETENCIA MIX

Serán seleccionados de 7 a 10 largometrajes y de 7 a 10 cortometrajes, nacionales e internacionales, para formar parte de esta sección. Sólo podrán ser seleccionadas para la sección Competencia MIX películas realizadas en 2025 y 2026, que no hayan sido programadas por otro festival o muestra en la Ciuad de México, que no hayan sido estrenadas previamente en México, que no estén a la venta personal y que no formen parte del cátalogo de alguna plataforma de streaming.

Las películas que participan en esta sección compiten  por:

• Premio Mariposa a Mejor Largometraje
• Premio Mariposa a Mejor Dirección en un largometraje
• Premio Mariposa a Mejor Guión de un largometraje
• Premio Mariposa a Mejor Actuación Principal en un largometraje
• Premio Mariposa a Mejor Cortometraje
• Premio Mariposa Rosa a Mejor Trabajo Mexicano (largometraje o cortometraje)
• Premio Especial del Jurado MIX (largometraje y cortometraje)
• Premio del Gran Público MIX a Mejor Largometraje

Sección PANORAMA MIX

No hay un número mínimo o máximo de largometrajes y cortometrajes que serán seleccionadas para formar parte de esta sección. Sólo serán elegibles para esta sección largometrajes y cortometrajes realizados en los años 2024, 2025 y 2026 que no se hayan exhibido en la Ciudad de México, que no se hayan estrenado en México y no formen parte del catálogo de alguna plataforma de streaming.

Las películas que participan en esta sección (solo largometrajes) comptiten por:

• Premio del Gran Público MIX a Mejor Largometraje

Sección ROSA MEXICANO

No hay un número mínimo o máximo de largometrajes y cortometrajes que serán seleccionadas para formar parte de esta sección. Sólo serán elegibles para esta sección largometrajes y cortometrajes de producción mexicana realizados en los años 2025 y 2026, que no se hayan exhibido en la Ciudad de México, que no se hayan estrenado en México y no formen parte del catálogo de alguna plataforma de streaming.

Las películas que participan en esta sección, tanto largometrajes como cortometrajes, compiten por:

• Premio Mariposa Rosa Mexicano al Mejor Trabajo Mexicano (largometraje o cortometraje)

Los largometrajes y cortometrajes seleccionados en Rosa Mexicano también formaran parte de la programación de Rosa Mexicano – Muestra de Cine Nacional del Festival MIX México*.

Los premios serán otorgados por un jurado internacional, integrado entre 3 y 5 personalidades del Medio. Solo el PREMIO DEL GRAN PÚBLICO MIX será entregado por votación directa del público asistente a las salas de proyección del Festival.

Al inscribir la película a la Convocatoria MIX México, el productor y/o distribuidor que posea los derechos de la película estará aceptando participar en el Festival de acuerdo a sus bases. La participación en el Festival MIX México implica la aceptación de las siguientes bases:

• Las películas que se inscriben a la Convocatoria de MIX México no recibiran compensación económica.
• Una vez registrada y seleccionada, la película no podrá ser retirada de la programación de MIX México, ni podrá ser exhibida públicamente en la Ciudad de México antes de su presentación oficial en el festival y hasta julio de 2026. Las excepciones a esta regla se comentarán con quien detente los derechos de la película y quedarán sujetas a la discreción del área de programación.
• Las personas que hayan trabajado en las películas seleccionadas se comprometen a no hacer pública su participación hasta que la programación de MIX México sea anunciada por los organizadores. De no cumplir con este último punto, los organizadores podrán considerar retirar la película del Festival.
• Los productores y distribuidores de películas que formen parte de la Sección Competencia MIX, Panorama MIX y Rosa MIX, se comprometen a incluir la frase “MIX México – Selección Oficial Competencia”, “MIX México – Selección Oficial Panorma” y “MIX México – Selección Oficial Rosa Mexicano”, respectivamente,  en todo su material publicitario y de prensa, utilizando el material correspondiente que se les enviará por correo electrónico al realizar la notoficación de su selección. Este compromiso aplica tanto para estrenos comerciales de películas como para lanzamientos comerciales en Blu-ray, DVD y VOD.
• El productor titular de los derechos deberá enviar a MIX México por correo o en formato digital los siguientes datos:

• • Formato de registro, completo y firmado
  • Título original de la película
  • Idioma
  • Subtitulaje en español obligatoro, incluso para películas habladas en este mismo idioma
  • País de origen
  • Fecha de finalización de producción
  • Duración
  • Formato de exhibición
  • Relación de aspecto
  • Color y/o Blanco y negro
  • Fecha y lugar del estreno mundial, así como los Festivales en los que se ha exhibido anteriormente
  • Si ha ganado premios y cuáles
  • Sinopsis corta (máximo dos líneas)
  • Biografía del director
  • Datos del productor o persona responsable que envía la película: nombre, dirección, teléfono, correo electrónico y su firma.
  • Link del tráiler hablado o subtitulado en inglés o español. Para visionado online.
• En caso de enviar un enlace descargable, éste no debe tener fecha de caducidad. Evita enviar enlaces de Wetransfer o similar, que sólo son válidos por un número limitado de días.
• Para participar, las películas deberán haber sido inscritas y enviadas en línea, a más tardar, el 10 de abril de 2026, sin excepción.
• No se podrán presentar obras en proceso de realización.
• MIX México podrá utilizar fragmentos de películas nacionales e internacionales y/o trailers (de máximo 3 minutos de duración) con fines promocionales.
• Con el objetivo de difundir la programación y cada una de las películas seleccionadas, MIX México podrá utilizar fotografías, carteles y trailers (de menos de 3 minutos de duración) de las películas.
• Las decisiones sobre los contenidos editoriales de nuestro catálogo son responsabilidad exclusiva del Festival MIX México.
• La programación, fechas y horarios de proyección de cada película son decididos por la Organización de MIX México.
• Las películas habladas en español seleccionadas deberán presentarse para su exhibición con subtítulos en español e inglés, esto es por disposición oficial, de no ser así, las autoridades correspondientes no permitiran la proyección de la película.
• Para películas extranjeras en idioma distinto al español, se requerirá una lista de diálogos en inglés (con códigos de tiempo) para hacer el subtitulado.
• En caso de ser aceptado en MIX México, deberá confirmar que no hay una copia completa de la película disponible en línea en México o a través de VOD en México, previo a la proyección.
• La participación en MIX México implica la aceptación de este reglamento. Cualquier conflicto (de organización o funcionamiento) no previsto en este reglamento se resolverá por vía electrónica.
