Colón no descubrió América en 1492, pero ese fue el inicio del colonialismo, que también trajo consigo el pensamiento colonial del sistema de dos géneros y la otredad. Cruzar el río no se trata solo de personas de México, Centro y Sudamérica intentando cruzar la frontera hacia Estados Unidos en busca de una vida mejor, sino también de personas trans cruzando la frontera de género.

Los acontecimientos recientes en Estados Unidos en relación con los pueblos indígenas —a quienes llaman migrantes y/o personas trans— son simplemente las consecuencias de un proceso que lleva mucho tiempo siendo evidente.

Columbus did not discover America in 1492, but it was the beginning of colonialism that also brought the colonial thinking of the two-gender system & othering. Crossing the river is not only about people from Mexico, Central- and South America trying to cross the border to the United States looking for a better life, but also about Transpeople crossing the gender border.

The recent developments in the USA in dealing with indigenous people, whom they call migrants and/or trans people, are just the consequences that have been apparent for a long time.
